Email for Raditya Dika

I've just sent an email to Raditya Dika, the most famous Indonesian autobiographical comedy writer which has published 4 of his personal literature writing (Kambingjantan, Cinta Brontosaurus, Radikus Makankakus, and Babi Ngesot), that some has inspired my lifestyle and writing style in Rockepreneur.

Raditya Dika with stand-up comedy style when he present his books. (Source: Google Picasa)

I sent it in Bahasa Indonesia, so this would be the first post that contains most on Bahasa Indonesia ever post in Rockepreneur.

Here's the mail:

Nggak tahu kenapa, saya selalu salut kepada orang-orang yang mendokumentasikan hidup mereka dan menjadikannya suatu karya seperti Tom Delonge (guitarist/vocalist Angels and Airwaves, owner Macbeth Footwear, Loserkids.com, Modlife.com, music and movie director) dari mulai album terakhir Blink-182 (yang sekarang kita bisa melihat rekaman mereka menemukan ide-ide di album terakhir mereka) sampai karya multimedia Angels and Airwaves di Modlife.com dari mulai motion pictures, video blogs, chat rooms, podcast, photos, updates yang ia komersilkan karena melihat fenomena “music should be free” yang ia pegang. Kemudian tokoh seperti Al a.k.a.

Pesan saya, something documented is priceless.

Best regards,
Tri Handoyo

The busy week story

Finally, after the very busy (seriously) weeks, since first week after APRES Mustang Oldies, we passed the days with fun! :) From the last one week, we have been busy to prepare for our UAS, especially the Artistic Recollection UAS. Again I notice that AR subject actually have only one SKS, but the effort actually fifth bigger than the other UAS (except for Statistic Business Management, which is only twice I think. :)). So I just was being postponed to post for further Rockepreneur updates.

I just had idea to create other topics for Rockepreneur, which is Rockepreneur Syariah. :) It's because I was inspired by my mother who always give me lead from Al-Quran about moral and values of life. Then, I was also inspired from the khotbah for the Shalat Jumat that I received just this afternoon about Ukhuah (persaudaraan / relation) of life. I was inspired that one of the most important things in life that is being told in Al-Quran is "Janganlah Engkau bercerai-berai". It's very practical that we can't do anything by ourselves. We need partners to accomplish tasks or things in life. It's very fundamental and it's very important to be rock entrepreneur better. I also want to create new topics like Rockepreneur Quotes that inspiring and Rockepreneur People who are actually a rock entrepreneur who brings good examples to the society, or even the world.

Ecology, Technology, and Sustainable Future (ETSF) UAS (Monday, May 19th 2008)

Well, come back to the busy week (not business week), this week started from the ETSF UAS. I prepared for the UAS only 45 minutes before the UAS started out. :) This occurred because of the source of lesson that will be came out in UAS, was forgotten to be copied, which is all soft copy data of presentations. So, with knowledge that I captured from the classes, I came to SBM-ITB in 7 o' clock in the morning, 1 hour before the UAS, and went to the computer labs to search for friends who got the proper ETSF data presentations for the UAS. I should really thankful to Allah SWT that there are actually my friends (Sigap, and Brian) who did last minutes study in comlabs. So, I just peaked out their study, and joined them learn. The result is pretty remarkable! I was able to finish UAS in good condition and self confidence. Subhanallah!

Waisak holiday practiced AR (Tuesday, May 20th 2008)

We got a national holiday for Waisak, so at the break day, we (Group 3 Artistic Recollection UAS) decided to practice for the drama comedy that we would presented it at Friday, May 23th 2008 (which is today) at the Auditorium. We rented the Auditorium from 9-16 o'clock to Group 3 and 4 (which is based from Tutorial I B class, which is being divided) to practice for the rehearsal of the real UAS, which is held in the Auditorium SBM-ITB. At that time, I felt like embarrassing our group, which is Group 3 because the theme song hasn't being trained well to the members. So we ended the first rehearsal not neatly. Plus, I haven't photocopied the lyrics of the theme song to be spread to the members, so they just like confuse to follow the song. At the same time, computer lab was closed because of the holiday, so we couldn't print and copied free at SBM-ITB. So I decided to make an appointment to the leader, which is Della (he did Stage manager at Tutorial I B Performance Skill and Artistic Recollection, and being the Director after Tutorial I B was divided into Group 3 and 4, to lead Group 3 which is I'm being the Music Director of the group), to print and copy the lyrics. Btw, Group 3 got Drama Comedy theme and Group 4 got more emotional Drama theme. So at that time, I was also watching Group 4 rehearsed and I was satisfied for the first time about how good the story is, leading to the drama story.

So, because of some self-embarrassment of the first rehearsal and got approval from Della, I just went to the digital printing and photocopy outside ITB (I decided near UNPAD Dipatiukur) to print and copy the lyrics. After I printed and copied it, I went to UNPAD mosque to give some Infaq to the mosque with the pray that "anything that can I give in this world, will hopefully brings goodness to myself and the recipients, and being far away from the badness". That's the pray that I always do whenever I did Infaq.

I went back to the campus and prayed Dzuhur there, and I went back to the Auditorium with the new good mood. Even though I still being reminded by Della to does the music better, but the spirit of me is actually better from before I went out to do copy and Infaq. This is truly a miracle from Allah SWT. Subahallah!

Critical Reading Writing (CRW) II UAS (Wednesday, May 22nd 2008)

CRW II is the English subject. I had a personal memory with CRW I subject in the 1st semester, which is I DIDN'T COME TO UAS. It's because I was overslept in the morning because I was training Albi (one of music section of Performance Skill UAS with Tutor I B, and also the music section in Artistic Recollection UAS in Group 3) playing the drum lines for the songs that will be performed at Performance Skill UAS. I prayed to Allah SWT that the memory won't decrease the spirit in CRW II. I actually love English very much, and it's applicable in this blog. :) But I got C in CRW I because I didn't attend the UAS (It's because I got A scores in quizzes, individual, and the group tasks. It shows that I actually capable to get an A right?).

Let's come back to the CRW II UAS. Thankfully to Allah SWT that I wouldn't be late for overslept in this UAS because the UAS itself is being held in 13.00. We were being asked to make an argumentative essay from 2 topics, and I choose the topic "Universities should give financial assistance to the people who wants to continue their study but suffers from poverty". I gave arguments that were inspired from true story of my high school mate for the opening, and I gave my personal arguments to the thesis sentence. I agreed about the topic and I told that by giving financial assistance for the people who suffer poverty, institutions are showing example of the real democratic country that the citizens have equal right to have proper study, the fact that many poor people have bigger potential to be good people in the society, and the university itself which is being the border of the institutional world to the real world. I felt pretty good about the essay. :)

Statistic Business and Management (SBM) UAS (Thursday, May 22nd 2008)

Not the abbreviation of my campus but, this is the subject that I most aware from all UAS subjects available. :) It's because it contains math, and I'm poor at math actually. So I think, this is the source why I didn't get optimal in rehearsal of Artistic Recollection subject in Tuesday, and wasn't able to feel satisfied with the UAS that I held days before.

The awareness made me done some effort to do group study with Misykat, Ikhsan, and Dhea, in Misykat's dorm, the night after I did the CRW II UAS. I arrived at 19.05 and Ikhsan and Dhea arrived at 19.25. I Got to study privately with Misykat, the most diligent 2010 student in math and something that are related to it. For about 20 minutes before Ikhsan and Dhea came. The clue that we got about the questions of the SBM UAS are, there will be only 3 questions which contains 1 One-Sample Test question, 1 Two-Sample Test question, and 1 ANOVA question. So, we decided to learn linearly from the One-Sample Test to ANOVA. We actually didn't have time to study the Two-Sample Test items that day because of the limited time that we got. I studied very seriously that day.

At Misykat's dorm room.

L to R: Misykat, Dhea, Ikhsan, and Me.

Actually Misykat turned on TV when we were studying, but I actually didn't get distracted by it. This is truly the effect of not having TV in my room, which I truthfully don't want to. The majority of TV broadcast today is mostly garbage. :) That's my point of view because, I actually most of TV programs are broadcasting sinetron drama, advertising, and gossips which contains unimportant and uneducated information sto the people. I rather search for videos from YouTube that contains useful and positive information that will increase my knowledge to be more focus, like interviews of people that I really like such as Tom Delonge and Steve Jobs, and also presentations of my favorite companies like Apple, Macbeth, and Microsoft. That would be much more useful that just sit back in front of TV and watching violence and social abuse that is being shown "very cool to be applied" in sinetron drama.

Btw, the study ended at 10.40, and we decided to eat chicken sate at Cisitu (which is the only restaurant that was still open at that time) near Misykat's dorm. I treated Miskyat for his kindness and patient to teach me SBM well at his dorm that leaded me into more understanding in SBM.

At the D-day minus 4 hour which is 10.00, I studied the rest that I still didn't understand about SBM which are, to apply ANOVA in Excel, and the Two-Sample Test that I haven't learned it well. So after I called Bimbi and Dika to applied data analysis ANOVA in Microsoft Excel 2007, I straightly tried it to apply it to the questions. Btw, I lost my Levine Business Statistic text book days before, so the day before I decided to buy it the copy again at Dunia Baru photocopy store, for Rp69.500. (Well, this is actually against the law but I think the rules still aren't very strict in here, Indonesia, that leaded the people into creativity because of the low cost availability of prohibited copy of books or the other types of media).

I arrived to SBM-ITB at 11.50, at the adzhan of Dzuhur, and straightly met Bimbi and Dika at the lobby. I asked questions about Two-Sample Test and they leaded me to the SBM-ITB library. I was asked to finish question number 10.8 to be able to understand more applicable way. In the middle I done it, my stomach forced me to eat, so I went to Kantin Barat Laut (KBL) to have some lunch to fulfill my hunger. After that, I prayed Dzuhur at Student Lounge and hope for the best for SBM UAS.

I just didn't have time to finish all the questions that I should answer to understand the subject, so I just rewrite the examples that are available at the book to my notebook. Hopefully I can use it for the UAS because thankfully, the UAS is open book. :)

Ok, the UAS begun and I started to read the questions. OMG, I couldn't understand the meaning of the questions. So, I just stick to the question number 2, which contained a table. I just being reminded that there will be only 3 questions which contains 1 One-Sample Test question, 1 Two-Sample Test question, and 1 ANOVA question, and the only question that couldn't be done without data from table is the ANOVA. So, I straightly decided to finish question number 2 with ANOVA. Done. Then I looked up from both questions number 1 and 3. It seemed like question number 3 used z-test One-Sample Test. After I search for the clues, I decided to process the number with it. I did the number with stable confidence. :) The time just reminded me that the test will be ended in 10 minutes. I firstly decided to hands down the number because couldn't find the clue to solve it with Two-Sample Test, the only clue after One-Sample Test and ANOVA done. But, it actually changed after I found that he question can be solved also with One-Sample Test. It broke the clue of different types of questions in each numbers. So, I decided to solve it very quickly, until it overtime 5 minutes. I was the last 2 persons who left the class. Done.

Subhanallah! I finished all the questions that I wasn't sure that I could have done it before. :) This is truly mixed between works hard and bless from Allah SWT.

After UAS SBM, I went to Hanif's house to practice for Artistic Recollection UAS that will be held at the next day. After we practiced at about 20.30 we decided to go to Asia-Afrika road to search for the famous kaki lima stand for chicken porridge, fried rice, fried or bowled noodle, bihun, and kwetiaw, and the fresh Pontianak orange juice (which is the best!). The price of the porridge is Rp9.000 and the fried rice and fried or bowled noodle, bihun, and kwetiaw is priced Rp10.000. The fresh Pontianak orange juice itself, priced Rp6.000. After we eat and drink, we took pictures in the middle of the empty road of Asia-Afrika road in about 22.00. That's truly an excitement moment for us.

Artistic Recollection (AR) UAS (Friday, May 23rd 2008)

This is the photo circa division of Tutor I B into Group 3 and Group 4. This picture is taken when Tutor I B were discussing about the recruitment of the new members for each groups about 2 weeks ago.

L to R: Ian (later Group 3 visualizer), Wiskas (later Group 4 talent), Tita (later Group 4 talent), Gita (later Group 4 talent), Sandy (later Group 3 script writer and talent), Deru (later Group 4 music section), Alisa (later Group 4 talent), Oke (later Group 4 talent), Nigor (later Group 4 stage manager), Julian (later Group 4 director), and Dela (later Group 3 director).

We decided to do our final rehearsal in Tutorial I B class at 9 o'clock. But I decided to go to Albi house first to make sure that Albi is on-time to the schedule that we've set the day before. It was also because of all my music instruments are in Albi's car. Before I arrived at Albi's dorm, I went to Salman Mosque first and did some Infaq there. I hope the same thing as usual I wish for the hope.

Btw, there was a problem, especially for music section of the group at the final rehearsal. Albi, who brought his electric drums and all of my instruments in his car, was being rejected to be able to enter the ITB environment by the security at the front gate of ITB. So, Albi, which was together with Sandy in his car, decided to park a car in Sabuga, and went to SBM-ITB to create a permission mail to the security at the front gate of ITB, at SBM-ITB administration in the basement.

We wrote the car's plat number, the purpose of entering ITB, and the length of time of the car to stay in ITB. Then, the administrator typed it with the format of the template of the permission's proposal, to the chief of ITB security. I and Albi waited for a very long time until the mail is finished for about 45 minutes. Thankfully that I brought my classical guitar that accompanied me for the waiting. :)

After we received the proposal, we have to bring a copy to the admin SBM-ITB lobby first. We went to ITB front gate, and gave the proposal to the security (which has been changed from the first one that rejected the car), and he read the mail (which is actually not purpose for him). Then he replied, "This proposal should have been sent 2 or 3 days ago before it get clarified form the chief of security. " which meant that we actually still couldn't enter the ITB environment.

But I think because of another help from Allah SWT, we were allowed to enter ITB, which meant that we were able to bring the instruments to SBM-ITB for the performance. Subhanallah! This problem made the music section could only do the final rehearsal for one time before we break for Shalat Jumat, until 13.00. The performance started at 14.00, as usual as Performance Skill and Artistic Recollection class.

The performances

Group 3, which is named "I am 3", inspired by a cell phone operator, got the 3rd performance of the UAS. The first performer is Chelavie (Group 4), presented "The Envelope" who got emotional drama theme. It tells the story about a father who are only proud in one of his son and aren't proud to the other son. The son who is being proud of is a police, and the other son who isn't being proud of is a burglar. The short story is, one day, the police found a burglar in action, and the police founded that the burglar is very dangerous and tried to escape, so he shot the burglar which is later known that the burglar is the police's brother. And later, sadness and regret came after last.

Deru, Dika, and Joshua, who was also in Tutor B-and did the best finale music among others. I felt pretty satisfied about that. :)

The second group was performing a fantasy theme, which I think is very cool! First, the costume is very prepared and very imaginative. Second, the music is very dynamic and truly represents the scenes. Third, the visual is very great, that they can find pictures of artistic and futuristic scenes that truly support the act. Forth is the choreography of the finale song is the best, because it pictured a very beautiful movement, combine with the well prepared property, melodious Disney music (the best music reference for fantasy), and a touchy message at the last song. I could say that they represent the best performance of the day.

It told a story of Gatot Kaca (one of Indonesian most famous Wayang character), who were being approach by a holy man from the future in 2040. The holy man wants some help from Gatot kaca to survive the world on his age, which is the Carbon Kingdom which is ruled rudely by Carbon King and Queen. I heard scientifically (correct me if I'm wrong), in the future, carbon could replaces human membranes to keep them survive in the world after the source of food is not available anymore (which is I think it's a good name for a future kingdom with a base of knowledge). The holy man then invited Gatot Kaca to the year 2040 to see the condition of the Carbon Age rules. He said that to erase the Carbon King and Queen, it's a hard effort because they're too strong. So the holy man asked Gatot Kaca to go to the past again to search for another strong people to help destroy the Carbon Kingdom. Then they go to several thousand years BC to meet Hercules, a man with half god to help destroy the Carbon Kingdom. After that, the holy man goes to several years in more future to meet Robin Hood, the prince of the Blacksmith Age to also purpose him to join the man to destroy the Carbon Kingdom in the future. The holy man finally got his army to face the Carbon Kingdom.

They're all go to the year 2040 to face the Carbon Kingdom. The battle begun, and the only person left in the battle is the Carbon King and Gatot Kaca. Afer some attacks from both of them, later Carbon King is known as Gatot Kaca in the future. :) So, after some attacks (great music and visualization), the past Gatot Kaca fell down to the ground as the sign of loosing. But then, after realizing that the Carbon King is actually Gatot Kaca in the future, so Gatot Kaca decided to sacrifice by killing himself, which would kill the Carbon King. The narrator (Safir, who's the director of this fantasy story), then said, "Gatot Kaca sacrifice himself for the peace of human life" which is very cool!

The story ended with some kind of dancing and singing angels like in fairytales with music composition that is taken from Disney movie. Then the last message to close the story is "The answer to safe human life actually is in your deepest heart and only you who knows the answer of it." Cool!

The third performer of AR UAS is our group, which is I am 3. We got comedy drama theme, and it told a story about a girl who want find true love but never happened. She admired the guy in the school but she doesn't know how to approach him. Fortunately, her father is a professor of love, that has just been invited a weapon called "Bazoka Cinta" or "Bazooka of Love". The girl than borrowed the weapon unnoticed by her father to use it to the next high school event. She with her friends brought the bazooka to the event, and after she met her admired guy, she straightly tested the gear to be targeted and shoot it to the guy. But unfortunately, when the rocket of kiss (the bullet of the bazooka) approached the guy, the guy spontaneously ducked to tie up his shoes. So the bullet was wrong target, and hit a freeman. It makes the freeman fell in love with the girl.

The condition that the girl is being approached by the freeman, made the girl and the admired guy gets closer after the guy helped the girl survived from the freeman. Then the guy asked the girl to a dinner in a café named Pete Cinta. There when the girl was waiting for the guy, the freeman actually came to the café too. The girl with patient just listens and watches the freeman's flatters to the girl about his new jeans, new earrings and new haircuts. Few minutes later, the guy also came to the café and met the girl and the freeman. The guy was very curious about the girl who looked at the freeman's flatter. Than the guy asked the girl that she doesn't have any relationship with the freeman. After the guy is very sure that the girl doesn't have any relationships with the freeman, the unpredictable thing happened after the guy hugged the freeman that created an answer that the guy and the freeman liked each other, and they just used the girl to be able to meet them together in Pete Cinta café.

My part of this comedy is to make the comedy more comical by adding some choreography in the musical performance with Albi and Krisna. Albi wore white Jason's mask on his face and playing electric drums, Krisna did the electric acoustic guitar, and I did the electric clean, and we together performed our music arrangements with full of choreography that we made it only the day before. :) You know what, it worked very well! Our music section got the best innovation for the music choreography. :)

The last group, who got romance story, told a love story in the eastern and Egyptian world. There was a son of a king in the Egyptian world who fell in love with a girl in a village. But the father told him not to marry the girl and told him to continue his study in England. There, as he continued his study, he always received mails from his hometown that he always thinks it's from the girl that he fell in love with. So, after the man graduated, he came back to his hometown to meet the girl. Unfortunately, the girl was actually passed away, and he felt very lost by it. He desperately regrets himself, and got curious by who sent the mails when he studied in England. Actually the sender was the girl's sister who also fell in love with the man. Later the man also fell in love with the sister because of her honesty and attention to the man, but actually the girl is dying because of a disease. The man didn't care about the condition of the girl and decided to marry the girl. But then at the night of their marriage, when the guy took her to the garden, the girl suddenly passed away because of her disease. The story is ended with sadness.

The most waiting that is being given comment from Mr. Benjon to the group is the music section, that presented a full band, complete with the logistic of electronics and the stage. They finally got the best live music at the performance.

Well, there are the performances guys. They're terrific! All of us got straight A's for Artistic Recollection UAS. :) This is the end of our busy week story.

Here is the live report!

APRES Mustang Oldies

I am being chosen as APRES Mustang (Musik Petang/Evening Music) Oldies committee as the Logistic Coordinator. APRES Mustang is a monthly or bimonthly annual event from APRES ITB unit, to present music performances by APRES members to all over ITB. The theme today is Mustang Oldies, which present old songs from 1960’s-1990’s era of songs with various music genres. This is the first time I join any musical event as a committee.

I do illustrating the stage for the event and prepare for all the things that the event needs. Looking that APRES itself doesn’t have any proper music instruments to hold a band event; it’s time for logistic crews to prepare for all the things to hold the event. So, my job is to lobby people to borrow music instruments from them for the event (as APRES only give Rp300.000 budget for Mustang event).

The event will be held today, Friday, March 16th 2008, and the check sound has been held yesterday, Thursday, March 15th 2006. I personally don’t have a background to be a logistic coordinator, but the main thing that I agreed to be logistic coordinator is I just because I want to know how music works with the electronics, and how it synchronize each other. So, this is a new experience for me personally, and I enjoy everything that is connected with music.

See you at the show tonight!

STOMPRESS! @ Widyatama University

On April 10th 2008, STOMPRESS 2007, a percussion reused materials band from APRES :), was invited to perform in Widyatama University, Bandung. This is the third performance from STOMPPRESS 2007, after the first performance ever in Ganesha Music Event 2008. The second performance was from Law Major of Padjajaran University. This is the first time for me personally performed with STOMPPRESS 2007, because at first and the second performance, I didn't have a chance to join them, because of the tight schedule of SBM-ITB College.
We performed a 10 minutes performance of one song. This song is arranged by Luthfan dkk and being performed by APRES kid's year 2007.

Here is the performance.

PS: I used the silent earphone, borrowed from my cousin who played drum at Petroleron in Band of Patra 3 here. It's because the decibel of the metal materials are very sick for my ear. I couldn't stand for the high level of sound, so I decided to wear it at the performance.

AR meeting and went to Sultan Agung

My parents and my older brother Iwan, visited me to my kos-kosan at Imam Bonjol no. 12. We discussed about the plan to make a gathering for Imam Bonjol no. 12 owners and settlers. Then we had a breakfast kupat tahu near Batagor Kingsley. The price of kupat tahu there is very expensive, which is twice and one third the price of an ordinary kupat tahu, which is Rp12.000. But it's ok, becuase we gathered with the family.

After we breakfast, we went to Old and New second hand store to hunt some unpredictable secondhand things. I gladly found a jacket which has similarity with the jacket that is being used by Tom Delonge in his performances with Angels and Airwaves recently. It has a mature punk style and I bought it for just Rp95.000. I already made my jeans in BET Jeans for Rp80.000, with the style, and to finished it, I just have to use Macbeth Wallister shoes to have a mature punk style like Tom Delonge.

So, I decided to search for Macbeth distribution outlet in Indonesia, and I found that it available at Evil Store in Jl. Sultan Agung. But before I decided to go to the store, I suddenly realized that it has been 10.20 in the morning after my parents and my brother went back home to Jakarta, and I have a meeting with Kelompok 3 to talk about the AR UTS project to make a drama comedy. It ended up with no decision of the story, but we got the jarkom (communiaction network) of the members to send the update informations about the project.

After the meeting ended in 12.30, I decided to go to Evil Store to find Macbeth Footwears available. I hoped that there is a Wallister there and I found them there. But it priced very expensive, whcih is Rp 525.000, so I decided to buy it later (I hope). Evil Store has the biggest collection of Macbeth Footwear in Bandung, Indonesia fortunately. There are also Tom Bonham Series, Meg and Dia Studio Project, Eisley Studio Project, and many more. I also found Ripple Magazine thre in 59th edition. It's funny because I thought that Ripple Magazine has been hiatus, after the availability became free and Al a.k.a. Ucay, my Indonesian scenester hero, left the magazine. But it's actually true that the magazine has lost their characteristic of mixed between the news, comedy, and fabolous DIY art projects. It's just be a ... magazine...

I went out of the store and travel to another distros in Jl. Sultan Agung, such as Ouval, God inc, D'Loops, etc. I found that indie scene in Bandung are now out of media to have some "mainstream" in the indie scene itself. It can be seen since the smaller availability of Ripple Magazine after the 35th edition to the present. Independent music in Bandung, now is very generous that there are no more dominant independent scene anymore like hardcore age, melodic punk age, or emo age. It's more general and cannot be identifiy anymore. The benefit from it is, the markets are wider, but more to be smaller.

Steve Jobs and Tom Delonge

I watched Steve Jobs in Macworld 2008 in CNET. The thing is, I also watched his presentation in his first Apple Macintosh. It has almost 30 years ago, and I saw some differences in Steve's presenation. Technologies in MacBook Air, are totally different from the first Macintosh. Steve Jobs' presentation in Macworld 2008 and in the first Macintosh are also has some differences.

Steve at the first Mac, has a very big guts to present his product to the public. He has a big spirit of young entrepreneur who represent the latest technology to the world. At the presentation in the Macworld 2008, he's only pointing to some important key of the new product. It might be because of his age, but I still see some of his spirit to present the best Apple product to the world.

The thing that I always like about him is about his casual style and gesture in his presentation. He has some typical way to do presentation like Tom Delonge did. He always display casual jargons mixed with some scientific and technological jargons. He present all of his ideas about his product like he himself who invent the product. Come up with the ideas and than present the features that the people would recieve it simple and clearly.

They both are trully Rockepreneurs!

Tough morning for Tutor I B

As the morning came for us, we started our day by creating some tasks given by Mr. Mel to search about the definition of 5 social sciences jargon. We did the task for each discussion group. He, I browsed Rockepreneur in Mac G3 in SBM-ITB library! My blog looks very thin. :)

Our tutorial class decided to start the interview to search for the Odyssey member that would fixed with us. Della, Ian, and Tabi were the interviewer for the group 3, and Julian, Nigor, Hanif, Alisa, and Gita, were the interviewer for the group 4. They interviewed the candidates that would enter each groups. I’m a member of the group 3, who yesterday performed “Preman Budiman”. I got the music section of the group. The interview started at 10 o’clock and finished at 12.30. After the interview was done, we discussed together about the decision of the people that would enter group 3 and 4. We would announce the members that would enter the groups this evening.

Yesterday, I also was being chosen as the Logistic Coordinator of APRES Mustang with the theme “oldies” on May 16th 2008. Fay is the leader, and yesterday I drew the illustration of the site of the event, and the gears that are needed for the event. I have to go to APRES after college to follow up the logistic status.

I hope that I could give the best for other people a lot in this world.

Practiced STOMP PRESS for Widyatama event

I cooked again in the next morning. This time, I cook the chicken soto from Mbok in home. I actually didn’t really like the soto that is being cooked by mbok, because it has a “pahit” tasted. But that’s actually the characteristic of the soto that is being made by mbok. I like every foods that she made beside the soto, which I didn’t really like it. Mbok is actually the servant in my house in Jakarta. He has great capabilities of doing anything, from cooking traditional Javanese and other national foods, to international foods like spaghetti, get rid of cockroach or big spiders that came to my house, or to lift heavy things. She has strength above her age that I think has reach late 50 or 60 years old. Her hair stills all black and none of her hair that becomes white. She’s the super woman in my house, as my mom always told her. She has been working in my house since I was in the 3rd grade of elementary school, and have close relationship with the other neighbor servants or complex security. I have a very big thank for her for all the things that has been done to me and my family.

So, this morning, I ate mbok’s soto with 6 pieces of chicken nugget. This time I only ate 1 of the chicken nugget before I ate it with full feast. I almost forgot that at 10 o’clock I have to practice for STOMP PRESS that I already approved the contract to join them. There’s an even from Widyatama University, and they had a contract with APRES-ITB to present our STOMP PRESS. We got our free transport, ticket, and logistic, for our show. We got the time to play in 10 minutes, but I think we would fill for only about 7-8 minutes one performance.

I arrived at 10.20, and actually, there were only Luthfan, Della, and Elmar at APRES. So, we waited for another person to come to the sekre. Few minutes later, Piji and Devie came, and we decided to start the practice with only about a quarter the STOMP PRESS personnel. Actually, me, Elmar, Della, Devie, and Piji didn’t join the last performance of STOMP PRESS in Ganesha Music Event 2008, and so as Luthfan, because we, beside Piji, are SBM-ITB students which at that time (April 30th 2008) we went excursion to Puncak. But, because Luthfan is the producer, so he knew a little bit of the pattern.

At first, we decided to go to SBM-ITB parking lot to practice there. But, because it’s too far from APRES sekre in Sunken Court, so we decided to practice in front of Gedung Serba Guna ITB. It’s besides SBM-ITB building, and there were no vehicle park at all at that time. We started to play songs that the later STOMP PRESS had already made it. Then, we decided to modify it to something new and simpler. This time with 6 persons only!

We captured “Gundul Pacul” and “Kopi Dangdut” song to be modified and percussion ally played with the tools available from STOM PRESS. Luthfan got the lead bass gallon and big basket, Della got the lead tenor gallon, Elmar got the medium basket, Piji got the tempo gallon, I got the 3 fry pan tom-tom, and Devie got the bottle melody. In the middle of the practice, Dana, Arbei, and Yaya, who’ve done shooting at SBM-ITB building, came to see out practice. This is because 83.33% of the players are from SBM-ITB. Then suddenly, Mr. Ucok and his friend, SBM-ITB’s security came to us, also to enjoy our experimentation.

I personally couldn’t stay at high level of sound. If I played my SONY stereo, I always put on the maximum volume of 3. This is actually has a contrast condition with STOMP PRESS that playing percussions from copper and iron materials that create very noisy sound. So, after some repetition of practice, I decided to put on my helmet as I practice, to decrease the overwhelming decibels that came to my ear.

I started to concern about my hearing since I recognize that the maximum level of hearing by human is 80 decibels for 6 hours, 90 decibels for 1 hour, and 100 decibels for 15 minutes (If I’m not mistaken). Above that, it could harm human hearing, such as the decreasing level of hearing. I don’t want my level of hearing is decreasing, because I actually love music very much! I think at the next practice, I should wear Krisbow’s hearing protection for the miners and industrial workers that could decrease the sound enter into our ears, up to 24 decibels. I’ve seen that on mining major expo in ITB. :)

Well, we finished practice at 13.30, and I bought Fried Banana Caramel (Pisang Karamel), and went home.

I cooked!

Finally, after my mom sent me a kitchen set and a new refrigerator, I started to do some cooking for myself, after almost 2 months I haven’t eat proper hot food for breakfast and dinner. :) My mom also sent me 2 packages of chicken nugget, a pack of Gepuk (like spicy meat slice), Mbok’s chicken soto, and 5 pieces of lumpia from Semarang, via Citi Trans. Finally, I have a chance to eat meat, after about 1 and a half month! :) Bandung has a very rare serving meat for foods. I often search for meat in prasmanan and warteg near my kos-kosan and my campus, and there are none of them. If it’s available, it would be priced very high. I once found abon (meat seasoning), and it price like a half of the total price of the food! I think it’s because Bandung is a big producer of milk, and they would prefer to cattle the cows to produce the milk than to kill them and sell out the meat. That’s why the price of milk in Bandung is cheaper than in Jakarta, for example.

Back to the cooking things, I was straightly went to Balubur, a place that you can find almost anything that related to stationary, building materials, and electric shop, to buy a fuse, to be able to plug in the fridge electricity. After it plugged out, I stored all the delivered things that my mom sent me. I was on the afternoon, and my hunger was started to speak up. So, I decided to straightly cook the foods that are available in the new fridge.

The first time I cook is the Gepuk. It’s because it’s meat! It’s written “extra pedas”, which means, “really hot”. I like hot foods, and I actually didn’t care, because it’s meat. I fried the gepuk with a few oil. Then I fried the nugget. This is the first time I eat chicken nugget again after I graduated from high school and went to Bandung. I just fried it 6 pieces of it. After all the things are finished, I just realized that I forgot to cook the rice! So, I took the rice that I already stored on the kitcken, and I cooked it to the rice cooker available. When I started to cook it, Teteh told me that the rice cooker is belongs to Icha, my room neighbor, and I told Teteh, “its ok. I just cook it a little.”

I waited for so long for the rice to be cooked. My hungry stomach can’t be hold anymore. So, I started to pick up a piece of the freshly cooked chicken nugget. Subhanallah, I finally ate hot food at my kos-kosan! Than my hand went to the bowl of gepuk. I started to wrap the pieces of the meat and tasted the meat in my tongue. Subhanallah, I finally eat meat for my dinner!

The waiting of the rice to be cooked made me unstoppable to pick up the cooked foods one by one. Finally, the rice is done, and my first cooked and proper dinner is ready. But after I looked to the bowl of the chicken nugget, there were only 3 left, and the gepuk was only 1 left. So, I decided to cook another few pieces of nugget and a piece of gepuk again.

After all the foods are served, I straightly went to my room and eat the special food. Allahhuakbar, I felt like eating in a 5 stars hotel with fancy foods, served like a room service. I finished eating the foods for about a third half of the time I served the foods. As the dessert of the dinner, I drink a pack of orange Buavita. I felt me like in a 5 stars hotel once more. I was so satisfied that night, and my satisfaction leaded me to do an infaq to the mosque. It’s because, after I finished he foods, I realized that not everybody in the same situation as me, could enjoy and have the same pleasure like eating meat of hot foods in this cold city like Bandung. I infaq after I prayed Isya in Salman Mosque, and at the time there were a lot of people doing saritilawah (learning to read Al-Quran).

Big thanks to god that I could enjoy my night that day. I think I got the reason to wake up early this time, answering my post here.

Yesterday, Tutor I B practiced for Artistic Recollection in Imam Bonjol no. 12

Dika, Ikhsan, and Deru came to my kos-kosan yesterday morning to practice the music for Artistic Recollection. I with them, were actually have a different team to perform. This time, each tutorial class was divided into two groups to perform the music.

Here’s the report:

They performed the lyric that is made by Ikhsan and composed by Dika.

They will perform, as well as my team in Aristic Reccollection at 14.00 this afternoon. See the review at the next post!

Now I know why I’m late. But what’s the solution?

The reason here actually has a more fundamental reason why am I late, which is, I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO BETWEEN 5 O’CLOCK TO 7 O’CLOCK IN THE MORNING! That’s the main reason why I always felt asleep again after I prayed Subuh in 5 o’clock in the morning, and got late after I realized that I woke up again at 7 o’clock in the morning. :(

I always think that why should I wake up in 5 o’clock in the morning, besides praying Subuh? You, late guy readers must have the same question as me right? Watch it. I woke up in the morning, pray Subuh, and… what? Its still 5.10 AM! Then I took a shower and prepare for the books. Its still 5.25 AM. That’s the complete preparation to go to college in my room. If I want to eat, I will buy foods outside, and it’s still 5.30 AM and there is still no food court open at that time near my kos-kosan or my college. If it does, they must be still in preparation, and they still haven’t prepared the complete menus yet to be served, which made me have to wait for a long time to finish the menus, and I hate waiting.

So, the feelings really affect me so much, that I always decided to go to sleep again after I pray Subuh, which is very risky to wake up late again in the morning (or even tend to wake up later in 5.30, 6.00, or even 6.30 in the morning, to not get me felt asleep again after I wake up). I really don’t know how to manage the time to fulfill the 2 hours length of time there. It always gets me to the unworthy condition to wake up early in the morning which creates bigger risk to get late. What should I do?

*This post is being sent because the writer got late again in Auditorium Statistic class in 7 o’clock, May 2nd 2008.

Acoustic Night SBM-ITB 2008

Yesterday, KM-SBM ITB Culture and Art division held a musical event at Student Lounge, SBM-ITB building, titled Acoustic Night SBM-ITB 2008. The event presented acoustic type of bands from all SBM-ITB students, and has a purpose of creating unity between 2010, 2009, and 2008 class. At this event, I’m in charge of publication coordinator, and you can see my work in here.

Well, about Tutor B-and, we actually got the first opening performance for the show, which is at 17.30. But we actually performed our show for about 17.50, because of the unready of the committee. Tutor B-and performed “Permadani dan Kaca” first, than “Semburat Romansa” with all Tutorial I-B audience, attended the show. See it!

Tutor B-and – “Semburat Romansa”

After that, the MC opened the show, and continues the event. There were total 13 bands from 2010 and 2009 class. After the MC finished, band from Eswan, Audy, and the other friends perform Kings of Convenience song, and “Drive” from Incubus. In the middle of they perform, I was praying Maghrib at the second floor of SBM-ITB building.

After I came back from praying, a band from 2009 were playing other bands songs that I don’t event realized it. Then, it’s time to Hendra Band perform the show. They took a contract with Rockepreneur to record their performance. Hendra Band actually hanged their name into Monkey, Crocodile, and the Handsome. But they didn’t want to answer, what is behind the name. They consist of Krisna in vocal, Deru in guitar/vocal, and Hendra in guitar/vocal. They performed 2 songs, and one last song was made by them. Watch it!

Monkey, Crocodile, and the Handsome - “Dusk and summer” from Dashboard Confessional

Monkey, Crocodile, and the Handsome – “Hospital to the Yellow”

After that, there is a cat came to the event, which made some hysteria to the cat paranoids. :) The committee was also preparing foods for lunch and snacks such as yellow rice, and yoghurt. I bought both of them to fulfill my hunger.

After filling up my stomach, it’s time for Fruit and Salad performed in the stage. This is one of the most wanted bands in the show, especially for the 2010 classes. They had recorded a song called “Show me the way” who has spread to almost every students hand phones on SBM-ITB. It has a very big characteristic of bands like Ten 2 Five, but more generous and melodious. At the show, they performed 3 songs which is an opening song, and 2 full length songs. At this time, they presented a new song called “More than welcome”, which is 2 times more powerful and beautiful than their last song. I can recognize right away that Lutfhan, the guitarist has a very big influence in DePaPePe. The song is very cool! Here are the clips of their performances.

Fruit and Salad – opening and “More than welcome”

Fruit and Salad – “Show me the way”

See, they’re cool right!

After they play, the other pointed bands in the show was like Nisa dan Kawan-kawan who played fusion Jazz acoustic, Patra and the Gang who performed playful and cheerful 2 alternative songs that made almost all the viewers get entertained by them, and The Bastards of Rome who perform Indie Pop music, especially Pure Saturday’s song, “Buka” which is I love it so much, because the song contains positive and unity lyrics, which is very fits the theme of the show. I personally, had performed “Buka” to represent my seniors farewell party when I was 2nd grade of 66 high school.

This is the photo when I performed “Buka” at high school

Unseen Forehead and the Glasses, another band from 2010 was also performing 2 songs from Sheila On 7 and the other one I forgot what song they played. Nosa as the vocalist seems pretty amused the audiences with his "kecrekan" in his hand. The show ended with the thanks from the MC and the committee, and we was given present for attending the show, which is a pack of Roka chocolate to be shared with our friends. 2009 classes was also won the price of the “song guest quiz” that is held in the transition between the bands, competing with 2010 and 2008 classes.

The evaluation

The briefing after the show told us to be more communicative to each coordinator in the show to make the coordination more efficient. Then we were being told to be on time, because it affected the schedule of the show to start.

The rest of it, we got free yellow rice and go home. The big problem of me is, MY GUITAR AMPLIFIER IS GONE! Its still haven’t been found right now, and the logistic committee who are responsible for the tools at the show, seems didn’t give pretty much attention for this. The most shocking is that, I with Tutor B-and still perform with my own amplifier, and yesterday shouldn’t be the last time I used and saw my guitar amps. I’m trying to follow up to the committee right now. I hope, tomorrow, I would have got the information about the availability of my guitar amps. Oh yes, one of my guitar jack was also gone after the show. :(

Tutor Band was practicing for Acoustic Night SBM-ITB 2008

Yesterday morning, after we did the aerobic for sport subject, I, Dika, and Wiskas was practicing for Tutor band performance in Acoustic Night SBM-ITB 2008, on the evening. We prepared 2 songs for our performance which is the songs that we’ve already done it for our tutorial class in Performance Skill which is “Semburat Romansa” and in Artistic Recollection which is “Permadani dan Kaca”. At the time we record the practice, Dika hasn’t come to the place, which is Imam Bonjol no. 12.

Here we are!

"Permadani dan Kaca"

"Semburat Romansa"

We did our performance in the late afternoon, which are 17.30. We actually got the first performer of the show. At this time, we haven’t realized that we should perform at first, because the schedule I knew, we would play in the sort of alphabetically as the 3rd last performer of the show, which is in about 20.00. The performance will be published at the next post.
